Meeting of creditors coming up? Have everything you need?
Take a deep breath. This unfortunately named meeting isn’t as bad as you have built it up in your mind. Before you know it, it will be over. You’ll wonder why you ever got anxious about this five minute meeting.
If you’re still anxious, take one last time to make sure you have everything you need. Your attorney should have already gone over it, but you need to bring:
- Your driver’s license
- Your social security card
- All paystubs you’ve gotten since your filing date
- Bank account statements that show their balance for the date you filed
Got everything?
What if you don’t have your social security card? No sweat. In Colorado, the trustee will accept the following items as a substitute:
- Your medical insurance card
- Pay stub
- W-2’s
- 1099’s
- Social Security Administration Statement of Number
Just make sure that any of these things show your complete social security number.
What happens if you don’t have any of these items? Most likely your meeting will be continued (rescheduled). That should give you time to get a replacement card.
