If you have decided to reaffirm any of your debts in bankruptcy, you must ensure that the reaffirmation agreement gets filed on time.
Under Bankruptcy Rule 4008(a), a reaffirmation agreement,
shall be filed no later than 60 days after the first date set for the meeting of creditors under § 341(a) of the Code. The reaffirmation agreement shall be accompanied by a cover sheet, prepared as prescribed by the appropriate Official Form. The court may, at any time and in its discretion, enlarge the time to file a reaffirmation agreement.
So, you need to get the agreement filed within 60 days after your meeting of creditors. Generally, the creditor with whom you have signed the agreement will make sure it gets filed. But you want to stay on top of it to protect your rights under the agreement. If it isn’t filed on time, the court may not consider it valid.
